A Homebuilder’s Views On Housing And The Economy

My name is Regis Skeehan.
I am a partner in Piedmont Personal Builders, LLC, an on-your-lot custom homebuilder in Greensboro, North Carolina. We build custom homes on your lot throughout Central North Carolina, including Burlington, Greensboro, High Point, Winston-Salem, and adjacent counties.
I have been in homebuilding for over 30 years with large, national homebuilders as well as smaller firms. I have been a partner in Piedmont Personal Builders for 9 years.
I earned a BA and an MBA from The University of Pittsburgh.
I started this blog to counteract the negative spin the media puts on housing and housing statistics. I try bring a different perspective to housing news. And, where possible, I try to find the bright side.

Rege, Great job and a needed perspective.
We (builders and Realtors) try to inform consumers that what they read in the local “rag” is mostly national news and not local; so it may or may not apply. I once asked the editor why they kept putting so much national news into the paper. I told him that I don’t open the front of the paper looking for the weather in Alaska; so why does news out of other areas take precedence over local news. The answer is that if they use articles from the news feeds, they don’t need as many writers and employees to put out the paper. (-;
Anyway, keep up the good work. I guess that they can teach us old dogs new tricks.

Gil,
Thanks for your note. I’ll just keep trying to find the good news in the numbers.

Great to see some good news about the housing market! Hopefully the buyers considering moving will be able to see past the doom & gloom on the news. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the note. The news is getting better, but we may see a fall back if the tax credit is not extended and expanded.
